Time’s flyin’

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

Suddenly July seems just around the corner. Daphne has her last class for the spring session tomorrow night, and after that there are no more major milestones for us until the baby is due! I guess June is officially our “prep month”. We’ve gotta clear out office stuff from our second bedroom, and replace the drafting table with the crib (which is currently lying disassembled in the garage). We’re also signed up for a few classes - the requisite prenatal class, infant care, etc.

We’re well into the third trimester, and Daph is doing just great (if a bit uncomfortable). She finds it difficult now to reach stuff above the kitchen counter that used to be no problem, and some pretty painful leg cramps have been waking her up at night. The baby is really active, and last week at our regularly-scheduled OB appointment we were happy to learn that he’s in the correct position. (At the previous OB visit he was feet-down, so he turned himself around at some point during the past couple of weeks.)

Last weekend we attended an outdoor wedding down in Santa Cruz - our friend Meara, who officiated our wedding ceremony three years ago, tied the knot with Jarrett, a really nice soft-spoken gentleman from Alaska (where they’ll be moving later this year!). It was a beautiful, well-orchestrated, emotional ceremony. A sizable chunk of the original gang from Chain Link Technologies was there, many of whom now have kids of their own. We had a great time catching up with everyone - and got a lot of good tips about baby equipment. There was definitely some nostalgia for the “good old days” during the dot-com bubble, and seeing how everyone’s lives have changed reminds me of how fast time really flies. Of course, like all weddings, the day went by too quickly, and before we knew it we were back in the car headed home…
